"La Clase" After-School Spanish Literacy Project  La Clase de la Lectura en Espanol

Is an after-school Spanish literacy project that began and continues to excel at Vern Patrick Elementary School in Redmond, Oregon.  In January 2010, thanks to funding support from The Oregon Community Foundation, the project expanded to Redmond's M.A. Lynch Elementary School.  In Fall 2010, Latina mothers at John Tuck Elementary began an all-volunteer La Clase project.  Thanks to a grant from Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, this year the mom-teachers at John Tuck will receive stipends for their efforts and Sisters Elementary will implement La Clase there as well.
